Your best people don't leave suddenly
By the time the resignation lands on your desk, the signs have usually been there for months. The meetings got quieter. The emails got shorter. The person everyone leaned on stopped putting their hand up. The humour went. Then one Tuesday morning they hand in their notice, and everyone says they never saw it coming.
They did see it. They just couldn't read it.
High staff turnover is almost never a people problem. It's pressure. Hidden in the system, landing on your most capable, most conscientious people, the ones who never complain, until they can't carry it anymore.
What staff turnover is really costing you
You're probably already seeing the bill. It might even be why you're here.
It costs around £25,000 to replace one employee, and 1 in 4 employees are planning to leave in 2026 (PayFit / Culture Amp). Then add the recruitment fees, the agency cover while the role sits empty, the overtime for the people left holding the gap, the months before a new starter is up to speed, and the knowledge that walks out of the door with every leaver.
Then come the costs that never show up on an invoice. Morale drops, because the people who stay feel it too. Output and productivity slip. The quality of work suffers, because tired people make mistakes. And you spend your week firefighting instead of running the business.
The one that really stings? When the cause stays, the replacement often leaves too. That's how one resignation becomes a revolving door.

Why your best people go first
Pressure doesn't land evenly. It flows towards your most capable people, the ones who say "leave it with me". They cover the gaps, absorb what the system won't hold, and keep going long after they should've stopped.
Which is exactly why the people you can least afford to lose are usually the first to go. It's one of the seven truths of Pressure Literacy: your most capable people are silently carrying the weight your system isn't holding.

Timeline of the early warning signs of staff turnover: meetings get quieter, emails get shorter, the go-to person stops volunteering, the humour goes, sickness creeps up, then a resignation.
How we find what's really driving your staff turnover
The Pressure Gauge Diagnostic shows you exactly where pressure is building in your organisation, who's carrying it, and what it's already costing you in turnover, absence and lost productivity.
It's independent, so people tell me what they won't tell their manager. The diagnostic instrument is anonymous, interviews are confidential, and nobody in your organisation ever sees individual responses. You get a full written report, your Pressure Literacy Score, and a face-to-face debrief to walk you through it.
Any team, any size, in any sector.
I'm 100% not here to criticise. I am here to partner with you.
I'm one hundred percent here to help you and your organisation do better, once we've got clarity on where you are right now. But I won't sugar-coat what I find, because softening the truth is exactly how organisations end up losing their best people.
I'm here to support you in uncovering the truth, with maybe a few uncomfortable conversations, to become a better leader and to support the positive growth of your business.
I've got you.

Questions leaders ask about staff turnover
What's a normal staff turnover rate?
It varies hugely by sector and size, so the national average matters far less than your own pattern. If good people keep leaving the same team, or new starters don't stay past their first year, that's your signal to look closer.
Why are our best staff leaving?
Usually because they've run out of capacity, not motivation. The people who carry the most are the first to hit their limit, and the last to tell you.
Will a pay rise fix it?
Sometimes pay is part of it. But if pressure is the cause, a pay rise just buys time. People will often stay for less where they can cope. They rarely stay for more where they can't.
Do you work with small businesses?
Yes. The Foundational diagnostic is built for organisations of up to 50 people, and the work is the same whatever your size.
How long does it take to find the cause?
It depends on the size of your organisation. I'll give you a clear timeline in our first conversation.
Good people leaving and you can't put your finger on why?
Let's talk. No commitment, no sales pitch. Just clarity.
Pressure never disappears.
It either becomes visible and readable, or it becomes expensive.
